Lake Wendouree
Lake Wendouree has been a major social destination for residents for the past 150 years.
The Lake has a surface area of 220 hectares, a circumference of 6km, and a capacity of 3,860 megalitres.
Avenue of Honour
The Ballarat Avenue of Honour is significant as the earliest known memorial avenue to have been planted in Victoria and appears to have stimulated similar plantings throughout Victoria in the years 1917 to 1921.
Her Majesty’s Theatre
Australia’s best preserved theatre building, it has been continuously used as Ballarat’s home of live performance ever since. It has been owned and operated by the City of Ballarat since 1987 and functions as Ballarat’s performing arts centre.
The Ballarat Yacht Club
Located at the Ballarat Yacht Club “Sails on the Lake” are Ballarat’s only waterfront function centre, restaurant, and cafe. Ballarat's ideal venue to enjoy breakfast, lunch, coffee and cake, live music, wine, and shared plate food on the very edge of beautiful Lake Wendouree.
Boatshed Restaurant
Boatshed is located on the Lake Wendouree foreshore in the very heart of Ballarat.
The iconic Ballarat restaurant has been a popular eatery by the Lake for almost two decades. In late 2017 Boatshed was refurbished and relaunched for its next phase.
Racers Bar & Cafe
Situated on the corner of historic Webster Street and Lake Wendouree, Racers oozes the charm of a recently revamped racy 1930s corner shop.
Lake View Hotel
Situated on the edge of Lake Wendouree this historical meeting place is the only remaining of 13 hotels that once lined the lake’s banks.
Following recent renovations, the Lake View Hotel is now a stylish and contemporary venue, with strong links to the past, to be enjoyed by many, into the future.
The Lake View is only a short walk from the Lake Inn Motel.

The Art Gallery of Ballarat is Australia’s finest regional gallery, an art experience not to be missed. Bird World

Mitchell Harris Cellar Door and Wine Shop
This 120-year-old former produce store, tentmaker’s store, and workshop has been transformed by Ballarat wine producer Mitchell Harris Wines, providing the full tasting experience right in the heart of Ballarat.

Museum of Australian Democracy at Eureka OR EUREKA CENTRE BALLARAT
M.A.D.E’s interactive and immersive exhibitions will explore the evolution and the future of democracy – looking at culture, civics, history, and citizenship. Each year people from around the world seek a meaningful connection to one of Australia’s most significant foundation stories – the Eureka Rebellion.
Gold Museum
The Gold Museum extends Sovereign Hill’s story of Ballarat – a majestic provincial city built on the wealth derived from the great Australian gold rushes of the 1850s.
Tramway Museum
Take a ride on one of the 90-year-old trams, which provided Ballarat’s main form of passenger service until 1971. The vintage tram ride covers 1.3km of original line through the beautiful Botanical Gardens by the western side of the tranquil Lake Wendouree and takes about 20 minutes.
